Prototype Replica Kit
Normally, the mass-production version of a model kit is made by modifying a prototype in order to make it suitable for mass production. During that process, details and ideal features are often omitted. To avoid that, this new "Prototype Replica" presents a ground-breaking concept that directly translates all the ideas of the original planning into the final product, without compromise.
The designers pursued their dream of creating the ultimate model kit, using manufacturing techniques specifically geared towards making a limited-production, not mass-produced, model.
That's why this product is a very limited-production unassembled, unpainted model kit, with very limited availability.
HobbyLink Japan in an exclusive agreement with Yamato will offer only a very limited number of kits in total, sold on a first-come, first-served basis (again, this offer not available for customers in Japan)...act now, there are only a few left!

The prototype maker checks and cleans each part by hand. This ensures that the packaged kit will be completely ready to assemble, with no further cleaning up to do. They do the work so you don't have to!

Excess materials from the molding process are removed, meaning you can assemble the kit right out of the box without any parts preparation. You won't even need a modeling knife. Here you can see where the "gates" from the molding process have been removed.

The kit features over 400 parts. To facilitate parts checking and to avoid missing parts, the kit is delivered in a temporarily semi-assembled state, with major sub-assemblies taped together. Once you open the box and check everything, you'll have to remove the tape and "officially" assemble the model.
The illustration shows the temporarily assembled sections. Small parts and screws will be securely packed in separate bags.

The surface of the parts is finished with a special micro-machining process, giving it a matte surface.
This nicely finished matte surface allows the direct application of paint, without the need for any primers, surfacers, or sanding...which are all processes that can obscure or damage detail.

Moving and load-bearing parts are made of especially strong materials, ensuring long life. Compared to usual resin kits, resistance to shock is increased 5 times, resistance to bending is increased 2.4 times, and resistance to stretching is increased 3.2 times. This increase in material strength allows this large Macross model to easily support its own weight, as well as facilitates the transforming features. The photo shows the wear-resistant nylon joint parts.

Strong magnets are used to stabilize the right and left ARMD 1 and 2 "arm" sections, when held in front as the bow while in "cruiser mode." The arms will not sag or otherwise change shape.
