1/35 BMD-2 Russian Airborne Fighting Vehicle

Airborne troops are essentially light infantry without heavy weapons, needing a light armored vehicle to destroy machine guns and negotiate rugged terrain. To answer this need, Russia developed the BMD series of light, airborne tanks, air-droppable by parachute. The BMD-2 is armed with a 30mm cannon and an anti-tank missile, and can transport five troops. It was deployed from the late 1980's.

Zvezda's model is a relatively easy to build kit and features good detail. Road wheels are of the late type. Clear plastic periscopes are provided. Tracks are of the soft plastic belt type. No figures included. A very fine kit for light tank fans.
