Trumpeter continues to go head-to-head with Hasegawa by following up their Razorback kit with this Bubbletop Jug! So how does Trumpeter's big Thunderbolt look? Well, the parts count is much, much higher than Hasegawa's, with a lot more detail available. We're given a super-detailed engine, engine accessory compartment, complete turbocharger, intercooler and all associated ducting (most of which will never be seen), four styles of propeller (Hamilton Standard, "toothpick" Curtis, symmetrical paddle-blade Curtis, and assymmetrical paddle-blade Curtis), open gun bays, optional open or closed cowl flaps, optional rear-view mirrors, and stores including a flat-style belly tank, 150-gallon Lockheed tanks, 75-gallon metal tanks, 108-gallon paper tanks, 250-lb. bombs, 500-lb. bombs, and bazooka tubes. The kit builds into an early Bubbletop, no tail strake and no dive flaps. Decals are for Frederick Christensen's "Miss Fire/Rozzie Geth II" and the colorful "Wee Speck" of the 354th Fighter Group.
