1/50 IJN Aichi D3A1 Type 99 Dive-Bomber

Long ago, after Tamiya made 1/35 THE scale for armor models, they tried to establish new standards for airplane kits by releasing kits in 1/50 and 1/100 scales. While the idea was not a huge success, they did succeed in releasing some very nice kits. The D3A1 is of course nowhere near as detailed a kit as Hasegawa's offering, and it is in a one-off scale, but it is a nice kit on its own, with recessed panel lines and raised rivets that are probably more prototypical than a dead-smooth surface. It is also quite a bit cheaper than the Hasegawa kit!
