The everlasting race of strengthening the firepower of modern MBTs made the 120mm L/55 tank gun a new standard. The new version A6 of the German Leopard 2 is one such trend setter; these tanks, converted from the A5 model, began deployment in March 2001. Tamiya latched on to the trend and released this model. The kit includes an additional sprue for the gun barrel (otherwise the toolings are the same as those of the highly-popular Leopard 2 A5 kit (TAM35242). The 40mm longer barrel really does change the overall impression of the Leo. The kit also contains commander (full-body) and loader figures (3/4-body), and a road sign post. Lenses for the head- and taillamps are molded in transparent plastic. Four sets of new decals are included.
