The M4A1 Sherman was the second production model of the M4 medium tank series, incorporating an entirely cast hull for improved ballistic protection. Armed with a 75mm gun, this variation soldiered on in all theaters of WWII throughout the war and beyond, receiving a wide variety of modifications as it went.

This entry in Tamiya's 1/48 armor series accurately captures the shapely outlines of this curvy Sherman, with plenty of optional parts included for the drive sprockets, road wheels, transmission cover, air cleaners, and gun mantlet that allow you to model many different M4A1 variations. Applique armor and separately molded tools are also included (tools are not molded on the hull as in the M4 and Firefly kits). Like the other kits in this series, the lower hull is die-cast.
