All-new tooling of the heavy cruiser which played an active roll in the Japanese Navy during the first two years of WWII. Mikuma met a somewhat an unusual fate, however, being seriously damaged in a collission with her sister ship, Mogami, while making a quick course change to avoid a US submarine during the latter stages of the Midway battle. Planes from Enterprise found her the next day and pounded the ship heavily. She sank later in the day with the loss of all but two hands. Typical Tamiya quality all around.
