Sweet's second release of their totally sweet 1/144 P-51B kit features new decals for "POW" Mustangs, although some of the examples are "Interned" Mustangs, not actually "POWs." As before, we get two kits in each box, with alternate exhausts, "stock" and "Malcolm hood" canopies, and underwing racks with two styles of drop tanks. The new markings cover four aircraft: "Evalina," formerly of the 26th FS, captured by Japan and tested by the IJAAF at Fussa AB in 1944; T9+HK of 2 Staffel, Versuchsverband, Luftwaffe; a former aircraft of the 335th FS that was interned in Switzerland and test-flown by the Swiss Air Force with large red-and-white "neutrality stripes"; and "D 16," an ex-354th FG Mustang interned in Sweden and pressed into Swedish service. This last example can be finished either in the original olive-drab and neutral gray or in the natural metal finish she wore after being stripped by the Swedes.
Molded in gray plastic. Unpainted. Photos below show a sample painted in silver with markings applied; the kit is not supplied thusly.
