1/144 U212 A Class Modern German Submarine

The U212 A class submarine is the most up-to-date, state-of-the-art conventional submarine in service today. The first submarine in the world to be equipped with an advanced hydrogen fuel cell engine, it can remain submerged for weeks. It also has diesel-electric engines with batteries for surface and high-speed operation. This sub was developed to be nearly undetectable by acoustic, magnetic, or radar searches. Armed with the latest in torpedo technology, the type entered service with the German Navy in 2005.

Revell's kit of the U212 A Class submarine features an accurately detailed hull, detailed propeller, four separate rudders aft, two movable diving planes on the conning tower, and rear stabilizers rendered with metal wire. The periscopes, antennae, and other equipment on the conning tower can be built either deployed or retracted. With options to position various hatches opened or closed, the sub can be built in either a dived or surfaced configuration. Markings are provided for four German and one Italian navy version. A display stand is included.
