Earning its name and then some, the American "Big Boy" was the longest and largest type of steam locomotive ever built! Capable of hauling trains up to 4,200 tons up steep passes, there were 25 Big Boys built beginning in 1941, with most being retired from service in 1961.
Even in 1/87 scale, the Big Boy builds into a big model, measuring 46.4cm long when complete! The detail is accurate and sharp, with many moving parts. Includes a detailed tender with ladder, and a 48cm section of detailed track. Decals are included for two Union Pacific versions. This is a plastic model assembly kit for static display.
