This is a Japanese-language book or magazine about cars and/or car modeling.
Founded by Texan racer Jim Hall, Chaparral Cars built some of the most radically designed race car prototypes ever seen from the 1960s through to the early '80s. From pioneering work in the area of air dams and wings in cars such as the 2E to the the amazing "vacuum cleaner" 2J racer that created under-car suction to stay glued to the track, the innovative designs of the Chaparral cars have left a lasting legacy in the world of motorsports, and even in popular culture, where the designs of the Mach 5 and other cars from the anime "Mach Go Go Go"/"Speed Racer" were based on the Chaparral 2C.
This fantastic book of a fantastic series of cars features 160 pages full of amazing photography, mostly in color, with captions in both Japanese and English. All models are covered, illustrated with photos and drawings of the cars, up close and in action. Includes a foreword by Jim Hall himself. Hardcover with dust jacket, and comes in a protective box. Highly recommended for Chaparral fans or any fan of motorsports!
This book was originally published in 1997 and sold for 10,000 yen. HLJ recently discovered a hidden cache of the books, though, and grabbed them up at substantially reduced pricing--and now we're passing the savings on to you, the Chaparral fan! Supplies are limited, so grab your copies while you can!
