It wowed 64 million visitors to Expo '70, the World's Fair in Osaka...and this three-faced giant known as the Tower of the Sun still stands tall and proud today! Artist Taro Okamoto created the 70-meter-tall (nearly 230 feet!) epitome of that epic Expo; more recently, this unforgettable monument has come to be a symbol of nostalgia for the 20th century, and figured prominently in the hit movie series and manga "20th Century Boys."
Now, in celebration of the Tower of the Sun's 40th anniversary, Kaiyodo has released this 1/350 reproduction in soft vinyl! From its metallic-finished face on top that represents the future, down through its white face symbolizing the present in front and black face representing the past in back, and culminating in a sturdy ABS base, this reverently produced Tower of the Sun stands 20cm (almost 8 inches) tall. An enigmatic, charismatic addition to the collection of any Japanophile! Please note that the photos shown are of a prototype; the production version may vary.
