The Ticonderoga-class cruisers were the first ships to be equipped with the Aegis weapons system. That, coupled with the ability to launch Tomahawk cruise missiles, makes it one of the most formidable surface ships in the world.
Hobby Boss's new kit of the USS Ticonderoga can be built as either a waterline or full-hull model (not mentioned anywhere in the instructions or packaging, but that's how the hull parts break down), and includes a nice base with printed name for the full-hull version. Markings are included for the Ticonderoga. Nice detail in this tiny scale.
