An amazingly detailed plastic model kit of Kumamoto Castle, featuring full interior structure detail. By far the most detailed injection plastic model kit of a Japanese castle ever produced! The extent and detail of this model will give the builder a very good understanding of the actual construction techniques of the time. This initial release includes a very nice 460mm x 300mm display base.
Built by the Kato clan in 1607, Kumamoto Castle was later handed over to the Hosokawa clan, and was the site of Japan's last civil war as Saigo Takamori rose up against the Meiji government. The castle suffered significant damage during that conflict. The castle as it exists today is mostly a modern reconstruction, but features several original wooden buildings connected to the castle.
