Over the last thirty years, many modelers have spent a lot of time powering up Tamiya's good-old Marder II kit by adding lacking details from more recent SPG kits. Dragon has ended the need for all that with their all-new Marder II kit. This is a breathtaking model: All of the interior, including driving controls and the inboard side of the viewing devices are reproduced. A complete set of radio equipment in the rack, including power supply units, is located on the right side interior. And the shell splinter traps situated at the front of both sides of the fighting compartment are represented, too. The gun itself is from the latest model and comes with shells and three types of muzzle brakes. A turned aluminum barrel is provided, too. On-vehicle tools (injection plastic) come in two types, one molded with clamps and the other without clamps. For detail nuts, the clamps are offered as brass PE parts. Tracks are of the easy-assemble individually-molded type ("Magic Track"). Two types of drive sprockets and three types of idler wheels are offered as options. If we were to dare to complain, crew figures, an engine and small (but non-essential) equipment like MG barrel cases, magazine pouches and MG ammo boxes are not included. But that doesn't prevent us from giving this masterpiece our highest recommendation!
