The USS Arthur W. Radford is the eighth ship in the Spruance class DDG and acted as the test platform for the AEMS system. The AEMS (Advanced Enclosed Mast/Sensor (AEM/S)) system is the distinctive object towering in the middle of the ship. Its surface is made of advanced materials with frequency selective capability. It also reduces the radar signature and makes the ship more "stealthy". This is one of the essential technology requirements for the next generation of combat ships. The kit includes the AEMS system as an additional sprue. The parts required for the basic Spruance class ships, and decals for markings are also included. Brass photo-etched parts for the hand rails are included, too. Full-hull model.
