Built in 1944 but too late to participate in WWII, the USS Boxer CV-21 saw action as an aircraft carrier in the Korean War, where she received eight battle stars for her service. The Boxer was the first aircraft carrier on which a jet aircraft landed. In 1959 her designation was changed to LPH-1, and she became a helicopter carrier. She participated in 1962's Cuban Missile Crisis and throughout the Vietnam War, and also took part in the recovery operations of many space missions, including the first Apollo program. She was decommissioned in 1969.
Dragon's Cyber-Hobby release of the Boxer features sharp molding and photo-etched detail parts for the masts, radars, elevators, and more. Can be built as either a full-hull or waterline model, and includes a stand for the full-hull version. Decals are by Cartograf.
