Here's a real blast (off) from the past! This cool model kit of Apollo 11's Eagle-5 Lunar Module was first released in 1969 (the same year as the real Apollo 11 mission, the first moon landing!), and now has been re-released by the fine folks at Aoshima. The kit features fine molding, and spring-loaded landing legs for nice bouncy landings! Two interestingly shaped suited astronaut figures are provided, as is a nice nameplate and three pieces of moon surface experiments equipment. Decals are included. No clear parts are included for the windows, but that would be a very easy fix using your own pieces of scrap clear plastic (you'll have to supply your own descent stage gold foil too, if you want to be ultra-accurate!). No scale is given, but I would guesstimate based on the parts that the completed Lunar module stands somewhere between 14cm and 15cm tall. Aoshima warns that due to the age of the molds, the kit parts may have "burrs and scuffing," but all the parts looked fine to me, other than showing a wee bit of flash here and there. A great kit of a great subject!
