1/288 Space Shuttle & Booster Rocket

While perhaps not of the same level of scale fidelity as other Shuttle kits, Academy's offering is notable for its compactness AND for a feture you won't find elsewhere: the kit can be made to be self-illuminating! The base is designed to hold a small grain-of-wheat bulb in each of its four corners (light bulb not included, but available separately). A flick of the switch (battery contacts and switch included!) and the launch pad is bathed in "floodlights"! Seriously cool! And at only 800 yen, a bargain as well! The simple parts breakdown makes this perfect for younger builders, though dad may want to help with the lighting (would make an interesting bedside nightlight!).
