HLJ Pricing

As you've probably noticed by now, our products are priced in Japanese yen. A lot of people have never purchased directly from overseas before, but in this era of the Internet, credit cards, and PayPal, there's nothing difficult about shopping in a foreign currency! We will charge your credit card in yen, and your card company will do the currency exchange for you. Your card statement will show both the original yen amount that we charged you, as well as the conversion to your local currency. If you pay via PayPal, you just select yen as the payment currency on their website.

On HLJ's product pages, you'll see a pull-down menu below the yen price with prices in other currencies. These prices are provided for your reference only. Your final cost will vary somewhat from the price shown depending on exchange rate fluctuations and your card issuer or PayPal.

Prices at HLJ are the manufacturer's suggested retail price for the item in Japan. On our sale pages, you can find a few discounted items as well (usually a sign that we bought too much of something!). Nothing is priced higher than its standard retail price here, even if it's a rare product. Discounting of hobby items is rare in Japan. That means that shopping through HLJ's web site is just like getting on a plane and shopping in Japan -- you're paying exactly the same prices that people here in Japan are (not counting shipping, of course).

For resellers who purchase in quantity from us, we offer wholesale pricing. However, retail discounts in Japan are quite a bit slimmer than in many countries and the reduction from retail price will almost certainly be lower than you're used to seeing in your home country. This is especially true for garage kits, which have tiny margins to begin with.
