Education: B.A., International Relations & Telecommunication, Michigan State University, 1986
Personal: Lived in Japan for fifteen years total, and continuously since 1991. Fluent in spoken and written Japanese.

Stuff He's Done:

Worked for Japan's Asahi Bank (loan officer, 1986-1992)
Worked for Canada's Thomson Corporation (Tokyo-based financial reporter, 1992-1993)
Worked freelance for numerous magazines, newspapers and game companies (1993-present)
Started HobbyLink Japan (fall 1995; incorporated January 1997)

Stuff He's Doing:

Selling models on the Internet (you knew that)
Translation and photography for the Aero Detail series of books on WWII aircraft
Writes a column for Shukan ST (published by the Japan Times).
Gives lectures to business groups in cities around Japan on venture business and the impact of the Internet.
Translating all kinds of things for numerous Japanese hobby industry clients
Occasionally seen on Japanese TV

Hobbies & Interests:

Models (surprise!)
Aircraft, esp. WWII & modern carrier-based, and the photography thereof
Computers (Macs only. "I don't do Windows")
Video games, especially role-playing, adventure and flight-simulation types (mostly PlayStation, some DreamCast)
Scuba diving frequently since summer 2000 ("Once of the greatest discoveries I've ever made. If you've never tried it, do so, or you risk short-changing your entire life. Waiting 35 years to get into this is one of the biggest mistakes I've ever made.")
Sumo wrestling as well as most "normal" sports, such as golf, baseball and hockey.
