MODIFYING & CANCELING ORDERS
1. I've already placed an order, but would like to add some additional items to it.
Please place a separate new order for the additional items. The reason we request this is that we select items for shipping to customers in the order that they originally placed their orders with us. Much of the merchandise we sell is only available in limited quantities, or may take weeks or months before additional quantities are available. In those cases, people have to wait. If we add an item to an order you have placed previously, you are in effect "taking cuts" into the line of people waiting for that item.
On the bright side, when shipping anything to a customer with more than one order with us, we check all their orders for available items and ship them together to keep shipping costs as low as possible. At any rate, when you place an order with us, try to add everything you can think of before you press that "submit" button!
2. I want to cancel all or part of my order.
If your order has not yet entered payment processing, just use our Account Maintenance System to call up your order, and then follow the instructions on the screen. We ask, of course, that customers place orders only for merchandise they are sure they want to buy, and keep cancellations to a minimum.
3. I want to change or cancel all or part of my order, but my order is "shipping soon" and your system won't let me.
Customers are free to cancel any items or change the shipping method of orders they have placed with us up to the time we begin actually packing the order for shipping. Our online order status system can be used to place these requests quite easily. However, once we've received your payment, packed your box, and are just waiting for the truck to pick it up (described as "items shipping soon" on the status system) a cancellation or shipping method change is not possible.
At this point in the process, we ask you to go through with your original order and accept the merchandise. If a payment problem is going to prevent you from completing your order, please contact us at trouble@hlj.com. This is a standard policy for the mail-order industry, and we ask you to respect it when you place an order with us.
4. I have more than one order outstanding and want you to combine them.
We're sorry, but no. However, in order to keep our customers' shipping costs as low as possible, whenever we ship anything to a customer from a particular order, we also check all their other orders to see if anything else is available to be shipped together.
The reason we don't allow this at this time is because, when shipping orders we assign merchandise to customers in the order in which they originally placed their orders. Combining orders changes the order dates and therefore the priority that stock gets assigned, and we want to keep things fair for everybody, since so much of the merchandise we handle is available only in limited quantities.
So when you place your order, try to put everything you want onto one order rather than breaking up it up into smaller pieces if you're concerned about keeping shipping costs as low as possible. Note that your order won't be shipped until everything is available (or you request shipping), so doing this will slow shipment of your order if there are hard-to-find items on it.
- Shipping methods cannot be changed once an order has been paid for and entered shipping processing.
- Changing the shipping method for one order will effect all other open orders. Only one shipping method can be set per account at one time. The shipping method chosen will be the default for subesequent orders unless changed.
