We have found that although surface mail is considerably less expensive than other shipping options, the postal services of the world are just too rough on packages shipped by boat. Items frequently arrive with moderate to severe crush damage. So unless your order consists of books only (which can generally withstand rough handling), we strongly recommend against the use of surface mail.
